Data center nuclear power calculator
Turn an IT-load estimate into facility power, peak demand and a transparent first-pass reactor-module plan. Every assumption stays editable.
PUE = total facility energy ÷ IT equipment energy. The 1.15 default is an editable example, not a site benchmark.
Screening model only. It does not simulate refuelling/outage schedules, grid backup, UPS/generator systems, cooling topology, transmission, licensing, siting, security, fuel supply, economics or hourly load shape.
Separate IT load, facility overhead, peak capacity and annual energy.
A single “MW” number can hide four different questions. This calculator keeps them visible instead of folding them into one score.
IT MW → facility MW
Average facility MW = average IT MW × PUE. Cooling, power conversion and other facility loads are included through the PUE assumption.
Average → design load
Peak design MW = average facility MW × (1 + headroom). This is a simple planning margin, not an hourly load forecast.
Capacity → unit count
Base modules are rounded up to cover peak MW; optional reserve modules are then added. The one-module-out check makes the resilience assumption explicit.
