Beyond the grid

What can nuclear power actually be used for?

A reactor produces heat. That heat can become electricity, but it can also be used directly or indirectly for industrial and infrastructure needs. Choose a use case to see the basic fit.

Reactor → heat → choose the useful output. Electricity is the most familiar path, but cogeneration can combine electricity with useful heat.
Selected useGrid electricity
Useful outputPrimarily electricity
Likely scale familySMR to large reactor
What that meansA grid-connected plant can serve broad regional demand.
Important caveat

Not every reactor can do every job.

Useful heat temperature, site layout, grid connection, licensing, fuel, cooling and customer demand all matter. The selector above is an orientation tool, not a project recommendation.
